How to Measure the Length of a Sliding Curtain Track

Sliding Curtain Rods, Rails and Tracks are irreplaceable for Curtains in modern interiors. Large windows, little space for mounting a traditional Curtain Rod and the need for the entire Curtain to be moved - this is where Sliding Curtain Rails and Tracks come into play.

Model 1
Sliding Curtain Tracks for Small Windows - 1 Small Window
When we have a small window, the Curtain Rail can be mounted on the ceiling. But you can also mount it above the window on the wall, similar to the Traditional Curtain Rods - round sliding. In the case of the Sliding Curtain Rail we will use special wall brackets.
We recommend extending the Curtain Rail (D), if possible, by at least 20 - 30 cm or even more on each side of the window. This is especially important when the window is small. It will be possible to move the curtain completely beyond the window. Then we will have plenty of light. This is a great advantage of Curtain Rails, unlike traditional Curtain Rods which are limited by supports and never completely uncover the windows.
ATTENTION:
The Curtain Track mounted on the wall should maintain a distance from the window - ABOVE THE WINDOW (C). We recommend at least 5-6 cm or more if possible. This is very important because if the distance between the track and the window is too small, the sliding system will block the window from opening.
How to calculate the length of these CURTAIN RAILS?
The length of the Curtain Tracks (A) = width of the window (B) + 2 x (D)
Example:
If the window width is 100 cm,
The recommended length of the track is:
100 cm + 2 x 30 cm = 160 cm
So the Curtain Track should be 160 cm

Model 2
Sliding Curtain Tracks for Large Windows - 1 Large Window
Large windows are a feature of modern apartments, houses and villas of the 21st century.
Therefore, many modern interiors are exactly in that genre. A large window, often as wide as the entire wall.
In that case we recommend installing a Curtain Rail on the entire wall. It does not matter if the distance between the window and the left (D) and right (E) walls is the same or different. The curtains will look perfect and modern if mounted "wall to wall"
ATTENTION:
If the Curtain Track is mounted "wall to wall", a distance of approx. 1 cm on each side is necessary: this is important for the installation. Look at the scheme:
How to calculate the length of these CURTAIN RAILS?
The length of the Curtain Tracks (A) = width of the window (B) + (D) + (E)
Example:
If the window width is 250 cm,
The distance to the left of the window (D) is 30 cm
The distance to the right of the window (E) is 50 cm
The recommended length of the Curtain Track is:
250 cm + 30 cm + 50 cm = 230 cm
Attention: leave a distance from the wall of 1 cm on the left side and 1 cm on the right side.
Then the length of the Curtain Track should be 228 cm
Attention:
To check and be sure, it is advisable to also check the distance "from wall to wall", which should be the same, in our case this control length should be 230 cm.
To simplify:
simply measure the length of the wall on which the Curtain Track will be mounted minus 2 cm.

Model 3
Sliding Curtain Tracks for Several Windows on One Wall
A common case when we have many windows on one wall.
Sometimes they are small windows, sometimes large. If our interior style is modern, a good solution is to use the Sliding Curtain Track fixed to the ceiling.
If the distances between the windows are not too large, it is recommended to use 1 long Curtain Track "from wall to wall", as model 2.
It is worth mentioning that by using special Curtain Track connectors you can use an unlimited length of the Curtain Track by connecting many elements together. So there is no limit to the length of the sliding Curtain Tracks. You can easily install even a Curtain Track of 10 m or more.

Model 4
Sliding Curtain Tracks for Window Niche - 1 or more Windows
Ceiling-mounted Sliding Curtain Tracks are always used when there are niches above the windows.
Such window niches are often found in modern interiors. Today, interior designers love simple false ceilings with a special niche for installing a Curtain inside.
But not only modern interiors have niches above the windows. Many classic interiors in old houses and apartments, even if the windows are not very wide, have niches.
In this case, the length of the Curtain Track is equal to the length of our niche. Often the niche is much longer than the window. Often the niche is not located above one window, but above two or even three windows together. So the length of the Curtain Track corresponds to the total length of the niche, NOT just the length of the window.

ATTENTION:
Remember in any case to check all protruding elements such as: radiators, air conditioners, roller shutters, door handles, furniture, walls, balconies, etc., which can interfere with the free sliding of the Curtains. The length of the Curtain Track must be checked thinking about these obstacles.
